Preserving Knox County's Natural Habitats

Every year dozens of people escape from the hustle of their everyday world to enjoy the Knox County Parks. The Park District works in partnership with the County, Townships, local communities and private interest groups to develop a system of parks, recreation areas and open space which satisfies the needs of the residents while preserving the county's cultural and natural heritage.

Our Goals

To help our cause, we will:

• Work to ensure adequate finances to support a program of land acquisition, maintenance, education and preservation of natural resources.
• Develop a strategy to increase awareness of the Park District and provide for citizen input into the planning efforts.
• Provide educational opportunities that will increase citizen awareness of the natural and cultural resources of the county.
• Work cooperatively with other agencies to implement the recommendations of the Focus 2100 report and to become a partner with other county recreation, historical and land preservation organizations to strengthen their programs.
