Our tremendous growth and enduring popularity is largely
due to the generosity and
support of our community. Without their help, our programs, facilities
and acquisition of land might not otherwise be possible.

A successful park district is dependent
upon a steady source of income, such as an operating levy. Support
for the passage of a levy from Knox County citizens would provide
a sound financial base for operating and improving existing parks,
as well as acquiring land for future preservation...and future
generations.
If, in the future, the Knox County
Park District decides to place an operating levy on the ballot
for Knox County citizens to consider, volunteers will be needed
to help inform and educate concerning the benefits of greenspace
in the community.
The Knox Parks Fund was established
in September, 2007. The Knox Parks Fund was created by area citizens
who wanted to support the parks system and help keep it a lasting
part of your community. The fund is managed by the Community
Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, which was formed
in 1944. The Community Foundation is recognized by the U.S. Department
of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service for tax exempt purposes,
and funds are managed locally. MasterCard and Visa are welcomed,
and you can view a brochure.

Public budgets can’t always
stretch enough to cover all the desirable improvements for parks
and recreation services. While many gifts to the Knox Parks Fund
are in the form of cash, other contributions are helpful too:
Bequests: Estate planning/wills
can include the Knox Parks Fund as a beneficiary
Stock: A transfer fund for gifts of stock is
available locally.
Memorials: Gifts for loved ones may be set up
for project and programs matched with the donor’s wishes.
Real Property: The value of items such as land,
artwork, antiques and other treasures can be exchanged for proceeds
to directly help the parks.
If you would like to donate a specific
item (like a park bench or grill) to the park district, please
contact Kim Marshall via email at info@knoxcountypark.org
or by phone at our park office at 740-392-PARK. Here's our "wish
list" of items needed to make the parks more enjoyable
for all.
Naturalist Volunteer Program
Volunteers play an important part in the development
of the Park District. Naturalist volunteers aid staff with programs,
wildlife surveys, special events, nature center staffing, maintenance,
resource management projects, and trail leaders.

Friends of the Park District Group
Participation in our "Friends" group is a great
way to give back to the community and support our
cause.

If you'd like to be a naturalist volunteer or participate in our "Friends" group, we'd like to hear from you. For consideration,
