Nearly 40 hikers joined Park District staff and local
historian David Greer on our annual fall leaf color hike. The "Devil's
Backbone" area, which overlooks the Mohican River, was visited,
thanks to private landowner Phil Chase allowing us to access this
spectaular property. Thanks also to Mike & Edwina Orban for
providing the photos below.

photos of some of our four-legged participants in the recent "Walk
for Animals," which benefitted the Knox Humane Society. Approximately
$1,800 was raised for the Society, and the event was held at "Wolf"
Run Regional Park.... naturally. ...
Good News: The Knox County Commissioners
were awarded a $1.7 million grant to construct a tunnel under US26/SR3
east of Centerburg as part of the Heart of Ohio Trail. Asphalt paving
will be applied to the trail surface from Bishop to Updike Road.
The sixteen mile Heart of Ohio Trail is cleared, and bridges will
be upgraded along the trail in early 2008. Congratulations to the
Knox Board of County Commissioners for their efforts to make the
trail a reality!
